INSTAGRAM: Dambusters Inn

Day 150: Nothing like a swift pint after work on a Friday. Today’s local is The Dambusters Inn in Scampton. More of a museum that a pub, it celebrates the local RAF base from which No. 617 Squadron, the Dam Busters, launched Operation Chastise in May 1943 – and all the service men and women who have passed through since. It’s a must if you’re in the area. Proper pub.

Thanks to @deborah1guard for the pic. We were too busy enjoying and forgot to take one ? #365daysoftravel

Day 146: Leave it to the hound to find the only hill in the East Mids. I’m told this was taken after a 10 minute chase involving a rabbit. Our fur loving friends will be happy to hear the rabbit won and precautions have since been taken to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

Be vewy vewy quiet, he’s hunting wabbits. ? –

Day 145: Onward to sunny Scampton (Lincoln) with a spring in our step and slightly sore heads. The celebrations continued with a birthday bbq, but we had too much fun and didn’t take any pictures. So, instead, here is a picture from our post-barbie walk after too many sausages. Pretty though, right? #365daysoftravel #day145

Day 143: Back to Manchester-land and the eve of Al’s 40-something birthday. Our hound walk this evening takes us down Every Street in Ancoats. We’ve walked past this abandoned church so many times and still have no clue what the story is.

After a little research, this is the Church of All Souls. Built by William Haley as an Anglican place of worship in 1840. It’s been Grade II listed since 1984 (great year) and since it’s closure in 1981 has been used as a carpenter’s workshop and a meeting place for the World Miracle Centre Ministries. So there. #365daysoftravel #day143

Day 141: Looking back at recent travel snaps and can’t believe we didn’t post this earlier. This is the reception of our hotel in Kochi (Cochin) – The Waterfront Granary Hotel, Mattancheri

@thewaterfrontgranary claims to be India’s first museum hotel and is filled with old family photographs, antiques and collectibles from times gone by. The rooms are gorgeous and with a deck overlooking the water and port, it’s a pretty cool stop during your trip to Kerala. #365daysoftravel #day141
