Day 167: Manchester Cathedral. We’re staying about a 5
minutes walk from here and hear the bells being rung daily.
.
A little research tells us that there has been a church on his site since 700 AD and the beginnings of its current form date back to the 15th century. Cool, huh?

You don’t always have to travel to travel. #365daysoftravel #day167 @manchestercathedral

INSTAGRAM: Northern Quarter, Manchester

Day 160: Like many cities in the UK, Manchester takes its history seriously.
.
The Northern Quarter has been completely regenerated since the 1990’s but as it’s redeveloped into one Manchester’s trendiest neighbourhoods, it’s been careful to hold on to its heritage.
.
This is the facade of The Wholesale Fish Market, built by Speakman, Son & Hickson in 1873, which and stood strong for 100 years.
.
Today, it’s been incorporated into a new residential complex and stands as a reminder of the city’s vibrant past. ? #365daysoftravel #day160

Day 158: A trip south for a visit to Peanut’s favourite, Beech Road Park in Chorlton. Walking through we noticed that the trees are full of hand painted bees made by the local school.
.
The worker bee has been a symbol of Manchester for more than 150 years but has taken on added meaning since the MEN attack in 2017.
.
To quote Tony Walsh’s ‘This is the Place’, “Some are born here, some drawn here but we all call it home…Always remember. Never forget. Forever Manchester”. ?#365daysoftravel #day158
